Recently, the Internet has experienced
email viruses that “spoof” the sending e-mail
address. That means the “From:” line is
faked, selected from a list of e-mail addresses culled
off the Internet. This can result in an email that appears
to be from a TeleHold email address when, in fact, it
is not. WorldCom, TeleHold’s email provider screens
all incoming and outgoing email traffic to ensure that
that they are free from viruses.
Spoof e-mails that may have been generated by a virus
(or may even contain a virus) may possibly be maliciously
generated outside the TeleHold email system, without
our knowledge, and are beyond the control of TeleHold.
Please accept our condolences for this mutual inconvenience
and rest assured that TeleHold Corporation takes every
possible precaution to ensure our that our networks,
systems, servers, and legitimate email traffic are protected
to the highest degree.
On Monday September 8, 2003 the TeleHold.com domain
was the latest target of an e-mail spoofing scheme.
Through continued investigation, this incident appears
not to be a virus but rather a ploy by spammers to pass
through ISP e-mail filters and avoid detection by stealing
the domain of telehold.com.
TeleHold is pursuing this matter vigorously. By executing
this scheme, these spammers/spoofers are committing
numerous felonies including trademark infringement,
cyber-piracy, identity theft, unfair competition and
unfair business practice.
At this time TeleHold has identified one individual,
and is meticulously building its case in conjunction
with the FBI in order to prosecute this individual to
the fullest extent of the law. If you or anyone you
know has information relating to this case please contact
us immediately. Any correspondence will be
kept strictly confidential.
